Convoy of Hope Food Distributed to Families
at Family Ministry Center

Washington, DC—May 4, 2020—Central Union Mission will start to distribute 3,000 pounds of nonperishable food to hungry neighbors on Tuesday, May 5, at 9:30 am from the Family Ministry Center (3194-B Bladensburg Rd., NE, Washington, DC 20018.) The Mission received this food from Convoy of Hope, an international relief organization, and the entire donation was sponsored by Passion City Church DC. Passion City Church leaders are expected to be on hand at the distribution.

Food Distribution

According to Mission President Joe Mettimano, “We’re grateful for the generosity of Passion City Church DC. Their congregation raised funds to purchase food for Central Union Mission and five other local charities. They have a big heart for our neighborhood.”

“And this donation couldn’t come at a better time. The number of our emergency food clients has doubled in the last month. Many are first-time recipients—service industry workers, who with COVID-19 containment, are currently unemployed. Without school meals and paychecks, they are struggling to care for their children. Because Passion City Church DC cares about our neighbors, they stepped in with this food donation from Convoy of Hope, which, besides food, literally brings hope.”

The distribution will take place with safe social distancing outside the Family Ministry Center (3194-B Bladensburg Rd., NE, Washington, DC 20018) at 9:30 am on Tuesday, May 5, 2020. Photos and interviews are available. Please contact Deborah Chambers at 202-534-9965 or dchambers@missiondc.org for more information.
