Passport Auto Group Donates Brand New Truck to Central Union Mission

Washington, DC—April 15, 2022—Central Union Mission is known for providing resources to those in need, but the tables turned, recently, when one of the Ready2Work Program trucks needed to be replaced. Ready2Work is a Central Union Mission program that employs both men and women who are making their way out of homelessness and poverty. The trucks are essential to the work that they do and affords the program participants an opportunity to excel at their jobs while also staying busy and doing something productive.

“The Ready2Work program is such an integral part of our guys’ sobriety and success,” said Joe Mettimano, Mission President & CEO. “Having a job to go to every day gives them a purpose and something to look forward to. They’re always so proud when they’re headed to their jobs in the city, and we’re proud to watch them grow.”

Although Central Union Mission knew they hadn’t budgeted to repair or replace a new truck, they placed a call to the Passport Auto Group to share what they were in need of and why. The owner, Everett Hellmuth, was sympathetic to the need and impressed with the cause it would serve, called back to inform the Mission that a brand-new truck would be donated.

“Passport Auto Group is a proud sponsor of Central Union Mission and has been for many years.” said Hellmuth. “I’m so glad that our simple donation will have such a huge impact on the men and women who will use it for good. I’m proud we were able to do that.”

“We are so grateful and so honored that God would place it on his heart to bless us the way he did,” said Mettimano. This truck is going to bless the lives of those men and women who truly have made a change and are continuing to do the hard work.”

The 2022 Nissan Frontier pick-up truck that comes fully loaded with 4-wheel drive, and a 6-foot bed will be used to support the Mission’s job training efforts, including Ready2Work and other programs.
