Washington, DC – On Saturday, December 17, Central Union Mission’s Operation Christmas Miracle will provide Christmas gifts to over a thousand underprivileged and homeless children from 9:00 am to 11:30 am at Israel Baptist Church (1251 Saratoga Ave NE, Washington, DC 20018) and from 8:00 am to 11:00 am to Spanish-speaking families at Iglesia Evangelica Cuerpo de Cristo Christ Lutheran Church (5101 16th St NW, Washington, DC

Children will enjoy a short music program and holiday treats along with bags of Christmas gifts personally selected for them by our generous donors. We gratefully thank the DC Fraternal Order of Police’s (http://www.dc-fop.org) 12,000 members and its President Andy Maybo for donating 400 toys for the children we serve.

According to David Treadwell, Central Union Mission executive director, “This donation touches right at the heart of our service to the community. Many of these children have hard-working parents who still can’t afford to buy presents, so the FOP’s toy donation will make a big impact on the families we serve. For some children, this is the only Christmas celebration they will have.”

Media is invited to attend.  RSVP requested.

Please contact Deborah Chambers at 202-534-9965 cell or dchambers@missiondc.org to coordinate interviews or receive media entrance.
