JAMES LEE BROWN

From time to time, God chooses and anoints a person to do special work for Him. He equips that person with the necessary tools, talent, grace and the faith needed to perform the job well. He gives that person the wisdom to reflect the glory, praise and honor to the Lord Jesus Christ. Such a person is James Lee Brown.

James Lee Brown was born in Rocky Mount, North Carolina in 1953. He always had a genuine interest in music and was frequently featured in school talent shows. He was at that time noted for his James Brown dancing style. He enrolled in the Phillips High School band program in 1968 and shortly thereafter moved to Baltimore, Maryland where he continued his musical endeavors at the City College High School musical program. There he majored instrumental music, starting out on the clarinet and eventually moved to the saxophone. After graduating in 1971 he went on the road with Moses Willison band and played extensive night club work in Miami Florida. Returning to Baltimore in 1972 he played with local bands and shortly enlisted in the United States Marine Corp for two years where he received an honorable discharge. He continued his music with local Baltimore bands.

Even though James was playing music, which he loved there was an emptiness inside. He was always encouraged to attend church at an early age, however he did not have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. In 1980 he meets a young lady who inspired and greatly influenced him to receive Jesus Christ as his lord and savior. That lady is now his wife, of almost 36 years, Angela Brown. They are blessed with three children and beautiful bouncing grandson.

James has developed a rewarding personal relationship with Jesus Christ. He has received many blessings from the Lord and has been a blessing to so many others. James and family are currently active members of the First Baptist Church of Glen Arden, Maryland. He was a member of King David Singers and Band, Victorious Faith Band, The Abundantly Life Evangelistic Team, and Robert Nawah Smith Band. James was featured on platforms with trumpeter Phil Driscoll, Candi Stanton, Bee Bee & Cee Cee Winans, Fred Hammond and Commissioned, and many others. James is member of the American Composer Society and the Gospel Music Association.

James loves and performs gospel, jazz, traditional and smooth jazz. James has three solo recording to his credit and most recently, The Spirit Moves CD, a collection of original gospel jazz tunes. James is ever evolving spiritually and musically and is not to be confined. James's music, inspires, uplifts and invokes the presence of God.

James's life philosophy is Proverb 3:5-6," TRUST IN THE LORD, WITH ALL THINE HEART; AND LEAN NOT UNTO THEY OWN UNDERSTANDING. IN ALL THINE WAYS ACKNOWLEDE HIM, AND HE WILL DIRECT THY PATHS. "
