| Washington, DC—November 24, 2025—Expanding on decades of service and tradition, Central Union Mission will be serving Thanksgiving meals at two locations this year. In addition to its traditional service at its homeless shelter on Thanksgiving day, the Mission is excited to announce its first-ever Thanksgiving celebration focused on families on Wednesday, November 26, welcoming families, neighbors, and anyone in need of hope and connection this holiday season. “At Central Union Mission, we want every person in our community to know they are loved, valued, and not forgotten, especially during the holidays,” said Mission President Joseph Mettimano. “This celebration is more than a meal; it’s a reminder that no one has to walk through life alone.” This year, thanks to extraordinary generosity from businesses, churches, families, clubs, and individual donors, the Mission has collected over 1,100 turkeys and whole chickens to distribute to families across the DMV region. These holiday staples will help ensure that struggling households can enjoy a warm meal around their own tables on Thanksgiving Day. In addition to the family-focused event, Central Union Mission will also host a Thanksgiving Day meal for men experiencing homelessness at its Men’s Shelter, continuing the Mission’s longstanding tradition of providing comfort, dignity, and care during one of the most meaningful days of the year.
