Washington, DC — March 30, 2026 — This Easter season, Central Union Mission is turning simple moments into something deeper: joy for children and renewed hope for men rebuilding their lives.

On Wednesday, April 1 (10 a.m. – 2 p.m.), the Mission’s Comprehensive Family Resource Center will host an Easter celebration for children ages 5–8, featuring an Easter egg hunt, crafts, lessons on the meaning of Easter, raffle prizes, and a free lunch. For many families, it’s more than a fun day, it’s a chance for their children to feel seen, celebrated, and cared for.

On Easter Sunday, April 5, the Mission’s Men’s Shelter will offer a day of reflection and community, with chapel services in the morning and evening and a traditional Easter meal served from 4:30–5:30 p.m. Guests will be served baked ham, sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes & gravy, green beans, and sweet tea.

For men experiencing homelessness, holidays can be isolating. Easter at the Mission is different. It’s a place where they are welcomed, known, and reminded that new beginnings are still possible.

“Easter is about hope, and that’s what we see here every day,” said Mission President & CEO Joe Mettimano. “Lives are being rebuilt, and this season is a powerful reminder that no one is beyond a fresh start.”
