Delivering Hope
Washington, DC — May 11, 2026 — At a time when many families continue to feel the weight of rising costs and daily uncertainty, Central Union Mission is joining forces with FedEx and Feed the Children to deliver tangible relief and renewed hope to the community.

On Tuesday, May 12, the Mission will host a large-scale Resource Rally at its Comprehensive Family Resource Center, providing essential food and hygiene supplies to 400 families across Washington, DC.

Event Details:

What: Resource Rally – Food & Essentials Distribution
When: Tuesday, May 12, 2026 | 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM
(Opening Remarks at 9:30 AM)
Where: Central Union Mission Comprehensive Family Resource Center
3194 Bladensburg Rd. NE, Washington, DC

Each family will receive a 25-pound box of nutritious food, a 15-pound box of hygiene essentials, and additional items; critical resources designed to ease financial strain and meet every day needs with dignity and care.

More than just a distribution, the Resource Rally reflects the power of partnership in action. With the support of 30–40 FedEx volunteers and teams from Feed the Children and Central Union Mission, the event will be a coordinated, hands-on effort to serve families efficiently while offering a warm and welcoming experience.

“Events like this are a powerful reminder that no one has to face hardship alone,” said Joe Mettimano, Mission President & CEO. “When organizations come together with a shared purpose, we’re able to meet real needs in meaningful ways and remind families that they are seen, valued, and supported.”

This initiative is part of Central Union Mission’s ongoing commitment to care for the whole person; meeting both physical needs and fostering a sense of community and hope. By identifying and serving families directly, the Mission continues to act as a vital bridge between resources and those who need them most.

As food insecurity and economic challenges persist across the region, collaborations like this Resource Rally offer a practical and compassionate response, delivering not just supplies, but encouragement and stability to hundreds of local households.
