Central Union Mission to Honor Veterans with Special Service at Men’s Shelter
“Greater Love Hath No Man Than This” – Reflecting on Sacrifice and Service
Washington, DC—November 10, 2025—Central Union Mission will host a Veteran’s Day Service on Tuesday, November 11 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of the Mission’s Men’s Shelter, welcoming overnight guests, program participants, staff, and guests to recognize and honor the men and women who have served our nation. The event is expected to draw more than 100 attendees.

This years’ service centers on John 15:13 (KJV): “Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends,” a verse that embodies both the spirit of Veteran’s Day and the selfless commitment of those who serve.

Chaplain Kenneth W. White, an experienced pastor, educator, and spiritual leader, will deliver the keynote address. A Harvard Divinity School graduate and adjunct professor at the College of Southern Maryland, Rev. White has served in pastoral and chaplaincy roles across the country, bringing both depth of knowledge and heartfelt care to his ministry.

Throughout his distinguished career, Rev. White has ministered in diverse communities and institutions, including interfaith chaplaincy at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and pastoral leadership in Texas and Massachusetts. His experience and dedication to spiritual care make him uniquely suited to lead this meaningful service.

“This service gives us a chance to thank those who have served our country and to reflect on the even greater love Christ showed for all of us,” said Joe Mettimano, Mission President & CEO.
