Veterans Day Celebration

Come join us for a Veterans Day celebration at the Mission’s Emergency Shelter (65 Mass Avenue).

Thursday, November 11, 2021 

On Thursday, November 11, Central Union Mission Men’s Ministry team welcomes all veterans to our Veteran’s Day commemoration for a free luncheon and program at our men’s shelter (65 Massachusetts Ave., NW). Join homeless veterans, veteran volunteers, partner organizations, donors, staff and our neighbors as we honor and acknowledge their contribution to our nation. The Disabled Veterans National Foundation is donating care packages to the current veteran Mission residents.

Program participants include Keynote Speaker Colonel Sylvester Brown, Academic Executive Officer at U.S. Army War College, as well as the welcome by Central Union Mission, President & CEO Joseph Mettimano. Four Mission residents will be honored during the program:

• Richard Albee: US Navy, 1982-1986 (Boatswain’s Mate)
• Paul Brown: Marine, 1964-1969 (2714 Dietary Unit)
• Stephen Hall: Marine, 1984-1991 (2571 Forward Observer)
• Aaron Johnson: US Army, 1994 (Delta Communications)
