Central Union Mission Countdown to Camp Bennett Begins June 15, 2012
For Immediate Release: June 15, 2012
Central Union Mission Countdown to Camp Bennett Begins Openings Remain Available for Qualifying Youth Campers Washington, D.C. -June 15, 2012-Washington's oldest social service agency is preparing to kick off its annual Summer Camp benefiting hundreds of the area's financially underprivileged children between the ages of 8 and 12 years old. There are remaining openings for qualified campers. "At Central Union Mission, we feel that far too many families in the Washington, D.C. area lack the financial means to send their children off to summer camp," explained Central Union Mission Executive Director, David Treadwell. "Through the generous support of our donors, we are able to offer these families an opportunity to do just that for little or no cost at beautiful Camp Bennett located on 220-acres in scenic Brookville, Maryland." This year's Camp Bennett schedule begins on June 25 and will extend through August 10. For seven weeks, Central Union Mission staff and volunteers will play host to the area's financially underprivileged children for a week at a time. All the traditional camp activities are available including rope courses, swimming, nature trails, arts and crafts projects, a playground and group campfires. "It is our mission to provide these children who may have never been away to camp or on a vacation, a memorable and enjoyable experience with memories that will carry over after the summer ends," remarked Treadwell. "I encourage families interested in Camp Bennett for their children to contact us while spots are available."
