Located on 220 scenic
acres in beautiful Brookeville,
Maryland, Camp Bennettserves as
a residential summer camp for financially underprivileged
children from all over the Washington, D.C.
area. In 1934, the Women's Guild of Central
Union Mission funded the Mission's purchase
of a local farm that would serve as a summer
camp for inner city children. Every Summer
for seven fun-filled weeks, Christian counselors
and scores of volunteers lead hundreds of elementary
school-aged children through life-changing
Bible programs. Children who have never been
away for the streets are able to experience
the joys of an old fashioned camp fire. There
is more.
Camp
Activities
High and low rope courses, swimming pool, paddle
boating, gymnasium, nature trails, playground,
petting zoo, arts and craft, are just a portion
of the camp programs.
Children's
Ministry
The mission's outreach to children reaches
beyond the camp right into the streets where
they live. In December we give a Christmas
Bag Party and in August a Back Pack Giveaway
Party at the mission. We are able to match
donors to each child. Hundreds of needy families
receive Christmas presents and school supplies.
This may be the only time they hear of God's
love and salvation through faith in Jesus Christ.

Camp
Memories
Jacqueline Brown and her older sister Alethea
Franklin can trace much of who they are today
back to their experiences as children at Camp
Bennett. Alethea’s knowledge of Biblical
truths, love for camping, and desire to foster
compassion, as well as Jacqueline’s swimming
abilities, passion for travel, and interest
in learning about people different from herself
are all seeds of hope and joy planted at Camp
Bennett years ago. read

born at camp 1/17/2006. The men
named him "Katuka"
to honor Kevin Katuka, an Spiritual
Transformation Program participant
living at camp. On the morning
Katuka was born, Kevin confessed
the Lord Jesus as his own Savior.
Praise God for new birth and living
