Christmas Volunteers

Spotlight on Our Volunteers

We are so grateful to our volunteers who have generously given us their time in order to bless "the least of these" in our neighborhood.

These volunteers gave up their family time on Christmas Day to encourage our hungry neighbors. With their help and cheerful spirits, we were able to provide a festive meal for 100 guests. Along with a delicious holiday meal of turkey with all the trimmings, guests enjoyed a program celebrating Jesus's birth.

January 2013 Seniors LunchThe January Seniors Luncheon and New Year's program was a success thanks to the help of Drew University (Madison, NJ) and St. Anselm College (Manchester, NH) students, as well as volunteers from John Wesley AME Zion Church in Washington, DC. One hundred senior saints were blessed with an intense game of bingo, an inspiring message brought by Rev. Neal Henderson of First Baptist Church of Glenarden, a hot meal and groceries to take home. This program takes place on the second Wednesday of every month. Please join us!

Our Food Distribution Center got a hand from sorority sisters Delta Sigma Theta from Howard University. Thanks for your help!

The STP students and Overnight Guests at the Mission plan to enjoy an evening of hard-hitting football and all the traditional snacks on February 3, and they would like your company. Photo Finish

In the Stafford Foundation Give Before You Get photo competition, Central Union Mission won an award for "composition." The Give Before You Get program enables homeless people and others who are usually on the receiving end of charity to volunteer to help others instead. Congratulations to Ryan Simpson for taking the photo and for all the Mission men who participated in the program.
