In preparation for Hurricane Sandy, Central Union Mission will follow Federal Government Guidelines regarding our day-to-day operations. Should the Federal Government close for business, the Mission will be closed. However, our emergency shelter for men will operate as normal. We will shelter and feed men in place until the storm has passed. If needed and as space allows, we will shelter as many men as possible within the limits of safe capacity for our R Street facility. Should we reach overflow capacity, we will work with the District of Columbia Emergency Services to find suitable shelter for those we cannot accommodate.
In anticipation of extended power outages within the communities we serve, we are prepared to distribute food, water, and other essential supplies to neighbors in need on a first come, first served basis while our supplies last. People in need of assistance are asked to come to our main facility located at 1350 R Street, NW, Washington, DC.
We thank you for your continued support and pray that you and your family will be safe during the storm. Should you have additional questions or concerns, please contact Deborah Chambers, Director of Communications and Outreach.
